Good News on ORPAC
Newport (Pastor Don Minter) shares that they have begun a new Saturday evening service designed as an outreach to students and led by Youth Pastor Eric Fritz. At their first gathering on February 20th they had 78 students in attendance and over 30 adult volunteers.
Salem (West) Oasis, a new church that started services a year ago under the leadership of Pastor Keith Ritter, reports that the church is now financially self-supporting- - 3 months ahead of schedule. We thank Salem First Church for their "giving birth" to such a healthy new church and for giving them such a generous start. Oasis has faithfully tithed their income to the church planting fund of the district as well as to give another 10% of its income to ministry pertners in their neighborhoods.
The Coquille Church of the Nazarene reports that it is up to date on paying it's WEF and has sent two students to Peru with Extreme Nazarene. That means that they have more than doubled their giving to World Evangelism this year and will do the same next year. It also means that those two students will be planting 6 new churches in Peru! On top of that, the faithful people in Coquille gave $460 to Haiti and $260 for missionary Jessica Morris's deputation offering both in a two-week span.
Many of our churches have opened their hearts to the needs in Haiti in the aftermath of the devestating earthquake. Prayer services have been held, special offerings have been received and volunteer opportunities have been sought out. In special offerings for earthquake relief, ORPAC Nazarenes have given well over $50,000 for use by Nazarene Compassionate Ministries to meet needs. Click here to read some of the specifics. If your church has taken a special offering or has a story to tell of how you are meeting needs in Haiti, please email the details to orpacoffice@orpac.org. We know that there has been much generosity shown that we have not yet heard about.
